One of the greatest rants in the history of mankind, or any kind for that matter, was delivered by then-Vikings coach Jerry Burns on Nov. 5, 1989.

Burnsie, as he was known, went off on fans and the media for criticizing his offensive coordinator, Bob Schnelker. It was profane and it was hilarious — to everyone but maybe Burnsie.

In the midst of that famous as well as infamous rant, Purple Reign MN’s Bob Sansevere, then a columnist for the St. Paul Pioneer Press, asked Burnsie if he had just won the game. He had won, beating the St. Louis Rams.

Anyway, the rant is something you cannot listen to just once. And you will have the opportunity to listen as many times as you’d like. Burnsie said during the rant, “As long as I’m in this fucking job, Bob Schnelker will be the offensive coach. There will be no fucking questions about that.” Well, Purple Reign MN makes this promise to you: As long as this fucking website exists, Burnsie’s rant will be available to you. There will be no fucking questions about that.”
